Patriots to honor Olympians on MNF

The Patriots have invited five local medalists from the recent Summer Olympics to their preseason contest with the Eagles on "Monday Night Football," the team announced Saturday.

The following athletes will be honored:
  • Aly Raisman: Needham, Mass., native won gold as the captain of the U.S. women's gymnastics team.
  • Elizabeth Beisel: North Kingstown, R.I., native won silver and bronze medals in swimming.
  • Kayla Harrison: Wakefield, Mass., native became the first American to win gold in judo.
  • Asjha Jones and Tina Charles: Pair of former UConn basketball players and current members of the Connecticut Sun won gold on the U.S. women's basketball squad.
