FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Welcome to Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots host the Eagles in a preseason Monday Night Football contest (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET).
Weather conditions. It's a beautiful evening for football in Foxboro. According to Weather.com, the current temperature is 78 degrees. Temperatures are expected to drop from the high 60s to the mid-60s as the game progresses, while humidity is low (current dew point of 55 degrees). Skies are partly cloudy and winds are light. There is no precipitation in the forecast.
Frump gets the call. Tonight's referee is Jerry Frump, a replacement official due to the NFL's ongoing lockout of the NFL Referees Association.
Players not expected to play. Players not expected to be in action for the Patriots tonight include RB Stevan Ridley and S Tavon Wilson. A full list of players out of action will be compiled based on pre-game warm-ups.
Scouts in the house. There are scouts from 10 NFL teams expected to be in attendance tonight, including AFC East rivals Miami, Buffalo, and the Jets. There are two scouts from the Baltimore Ravens in attendance: assistant director of pro personnel Chad Alexander, and player personnel assistant Ian Cunningham. This could be a case of Cunningham learning the ropes, but regardless there will be two sets of Ravens eyes on tonight's game, which could signal interest from Baltimore in Eagles or Patriots players. There are also scouts from the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders and Calgary Stampeders here.
National anthem. Tonight's national anthem will be performed by Jonathan Cook, Caleb Turman, and Austin Bello from Forever the Sickest Kids, a musical group that will also be performing a pre-game concert outside the stadium from 6-7:30 p.m.
Group shot on program cover. The cover of the official game program tonight features a group of Patriots, including DT Vince Wilfork, with their hands together for a pre-game huddle.
