TAMPA -- The Patriots' offensive backfield was thinned in the first half of tonight's preseason game, as second-year running back Shane Vereen and fifth-year fullback Spencer Larsen both limped off with injuries.
Vereen limped off after a rush of minus-2 yards with 1:27 remaining in the first quarter. He couldn't put much pressure on his left leg.
Meanwhile, Larsen limped off on the first play of the second quarter, and had members of the athletic training staff looking at his right leg on the sideline.
Larsen had just returned to practice Wednesday after an extended absence in training camp, as tonight marked his first game action of the preseason.
Neither player has returned.
