Ventrone clears waivers, moves to IR

August, 28, 2012
Patriots defensive back Ross Ventrone, who was waived/injured on Monday, cleared waivers and has reverted to the team's injured reserve list, according to a league source.

Ventrone was involved in a myriad of transactions in 2011, bouncing between the practice squad and active roster. He has remaining practice squad eligibility.

The team has the option to negotiate an injury settlement with Ventrone, which would make him a free agent. If that is completed in the next five days, Ventrone is eligible to return to the team later this season. He must wait six games longer than the number of games his settlement is negotiated for, however.

Ventrone was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova by the Patriots on April 29, 2010.
