The Patriots have informed fullback Eric Kettani of his release from the practice squad, according to a league source.

The team signed the Navy graduate to its practice squad on Saturday, just one day after releasing him during final cuts. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2009, Kettani was placed on the Reserve/Military list that season as he was recalled into active service.

This preseason, Kettani earned extensive reps at fullback with Tony Fiammetta placed on the reserve/left squad list and Spencer Larsen nursing an injury for an extended period of camp.

The team recently added fullback James Develin to its practice squad.
