FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots began a string of three straight practices Wednesday, and running back Shane Vereen, as well as tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, remained out of action.

Guard/center Nick McDonald was on the field, but in a T-shirt and shorts. Safety Patrick Chung, who wore a red jersey on Monday, was back in his regular defensive blue uniform.

Wide receiver Kerry Taylor, who was cut last week, was back on the practice field, wearing No. 19. He was re-signed to the practice squad, a source confirms.

Newly signed tight end Michael Hoomanawanui was also on the field, wearing No. 47.

The Patriots were in full pads, after practicing in shells in Monday.
