The Patriots have signed free agent offensive lineman Matt Tennant, the team announced.

Tennant was claimed off waivers by the Patriots on Sept. 1, but was waived on Sept. 4 in order to make room for fullback Lex Hilliard.

Originally a fifth-round pick in 2010 by the Saints, Tennant, a Boston College graduate, can play both center and guard.

The Patriots have listed standout guard Logan Mankins as questionable for Week 4 with a hip injury, and Tennant's signing could be to add depth in the event that Mankins is unable to play. Reserve center/guard Nick McDonald (shoulder) is also listed as questionable on the injury report.
Field Yates has previous experience interning with the New England Patriots on both their coaching and scouting staffs. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), he is a regular contributor to ESPN Boston's Patriots coverage and ESPN Insider.
