Projecting the seven players who will be inactive for the Patriots' Week 7 matchup with the New York Jets:

Safety Steve Gregory
Reason: Health
Quick-hit: Gregory has once again been declared out by the team, and Sunday will mark his third consecutive game missed with a hip injury suffered in Week 4 at Buffalo.

Linebacker Tracy White
Reason: Health
Quick-hit: White will also miss Sunday's game, according to the team, as he continues to deal with a left foot injury that kept him out last Sunday as well.

Running back Brandon Bolden
Reason: Health
Quick-hit: After leaving last Sunday's game with a knee issue, Bolden did not practice this week and was ruled out for Week 7. That could open the door for more carries for Shane Vereen.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman
Reason: Health
Quick-hit: He's listed as questionable with a hand injury, and signs point to his continued improvement from the Week 3 injury, but it might just be a little more time before Edelman returns. With the bye week just two games away, the team could opt to leave him on the mend until the resumption of the schedule, in order to allow the hand ample time to recover.

Offensive lineman Matt Tennant
Reason: Depth
Quick-hit: With Nick McDonald earning recent snaps as an extra lineman, Tennant appears to be the final reserve for the Patriots along the interior of the offensive line. The team is well-equipped to move bodies around without him in the lineup, however, keeping him off the game-day roster.

Defensive lineman Justin Francis
Reason: Depth/development
Quick-hit: Francis remains a developmental prospect, who would likely have trouble earning reps over starters Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich on defense, and probably doesn't bring as much to the table on special teams as veteran Trevor Scott.

Defensive lineman Jake Bequette
Reason: Depth/development
Quick-hit: A virtual cut-and-paste from the reasoning that could keep Francis as an inactive, Bequette just isn't yet ready to be a regular contributor on defense or special teams.
Field Yates has previous experience interning with the New England Patriots on both their coaching and scouting staffs. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), he is a regular contributor to ESPN Boston's Patriots coverage and ESPN Insider.
