LONDON -- Patriots receiver Wes Welker left Sunday’s win over the Rams in the fourth quarter with a left ankle injury and didn’t return. He answered questions from reporters afterward, and naturally the ankle was a topic of discussion.

Welker was asked if the ankle would be OK.

“Yeah, I think so,” he answered. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it in the morning. It’s hard to tell right after it happens. We’ll evaluate it as the week goes on.”

On the fourth-quarter play that Welker was injured, he caught a 5-yard pass from quarterback Tom Brady and was tackled by safety Quintin Mikell. He came up limping.

“It just kind of got stuck in the turf,” Welker said.

Welker took himself out of the game and was later seen with his left leg elevated as a member of the athletic training staff applied tape. After putting his cleat back on, Welker walked along the sideline, and at one point, was seen smiling as he talked with Brady.

Welker, the team's leading receiver on the season, finished with six receptions for 48 yards.

The Patriots are off next weekend with their bye week and return to action Nov. 11 against Buffalo.
