Defensive back Sterling Moore, waived Wednesday by the Patriots, cleared waivers on Thursday and is now a free agent, according to a league source.
Prior to his release Moore had been working as the team's primary nickel defensive back. He played in 57 of 63 defensive snaps against the Rams in Week 8.
Moore, who is now free to sign with any team, has practice squad eligibility.
The Patriots have one open spot on their practice squad after adding wide receiver Jarred Fayson to the practice squad on Thursday.
