The Patriots have re-signed linebacker Jeff Tarpinian to the practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. Tarpinian was waived on Monday and cleared waivers on Tuesday, making him a free agent and eligible to be signed back to the practice squad.

Tarpinian was recently promoted to the active roster from the practice squad, playing primarily in a special-teams role and recording one tackle in three games. The 25-year-old was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Patriots out of Iowa in 2011.

In addition to the Tarpinian move, the team officially announced the signing of guard Mitch Petrus and the release of practice squad linebacker Jerrell Harris.
