EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman left Thursday night's game against the New York Jets with a head injury and did not return.

Edelman was hit by Jets safety LaRon Landry after gaining three yards on an end-around run in the third quarter. The fourth-year receiver immediately went to the ground and fumbled the ball.

After walking to the sideline, Edeman appeared to undergo a concussion test on the sideline.

Edelman had scored two touchdowns in the game, one after recovering a fumbled Jets kick return, and another on a 56-yard pass in the second quarter.

Last week, he scored on a punt return and a reception against the Indianapolis Colts. Edelman becomes the fourth player in NFL history with a punt return for a touchdown, a fumble return for a touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same season. According to Elias, Edelman is also the first player to have an offensive touchdown (rushing or receiving) and a special teams touchdown in two straight games since the Bob Hayes of the Dallas Cowboys in 1968.
