Pats promote Develin to active roster

November, 28, 2012
The Patriots have promoted practice squad fullback James Develin to the active roster, the team announced on Wednesday. In addition, the team signed wide receiver Jeremy Ebert to the practice squad, as was expected.

Develin, signed to the practice squad on September 2, is a six-foot-three, 251-pound player out of Brown who began his NFL career on the Bengals practice squad in 2010. He spent the 2011 season on the Bengals practice squad again, and was waived following training camp in 2012.

The Patriots have not had a fullback on the roster since early in the season when the team briefly signed Lex Hilliard.

Ebert, a 2012 seventh-round pick of the Patriots, was waived following training camp. He was briefly signed to the Eagles practice squad, but was later released.

The team had an opening on the active roster after defensive end Jermaine Cunningham was suspended for four games due to a violation of the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances. The Patriots once again have a full boat on the practice squad with eight players.
