Projecting Patriots inactives

For the first time in a long time, the Patriots had a full boat of players at practice Friday, as every member of the active roster -- tight end Rob Gronkowski included -- participated in the session on the game field at Gillette Stadium.

But the full practice shouldn't be confused with a fully healthy team, as the Patriots listed an eye-popping 19 players as questionable for their Sunday night game against the 49ers.

With just 52 players on the active roster, here's a shot at projecting the six inactives for tomorrow's contest.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski

Reason: Health

Quick-hit: Despite his return to practice, the team may opt to sit Gronkowski this Sunday to buy him more time to recover.

Offensive lineman Nick McDonald

Reason: Health/depth

Quick-hit: McDonald continues to be bothered by a shoulder injury, and with Marcus Cannon emerging as a depth-level option at guard, the Patriots have both him and Donald Thomas to use in an injury situation.

Offensive lineman Markus Zusevics

Reason: Depth

Quick-hit: The Patriots are in good shape along the offensive line, as the aforementioned Cannon is capable to step in as a reserve tackle if needed.

Fullback James Develin

Reason: Depth

Quick-hit: With Brandon Bolden back in the mix, the Patriots' backfield is well-stocked already.

Defensive back Derrick Martin

Reason: Depth

Quick-hit: If either Aqib Talib (hip) or Alfonzo Dennard (hamstring) is unable to play, Martin would seem like a strong candidate to dress. Both look on pace to play, however, meaning Martin may sit.

Defensive lineman Ron Brace

Reason: Health

Quick-hit: Brace has been a recent inactive due to an elbow injury that continues to limit him in practice.
