Veteran guards Antoine Caldwell and Rex Hadnot were in a Foxborough for a tryout with the Patriots, according to a league source. In addition, the Patriots held a tryout with running back Felix Jones, as colleague Mike Reiss previously reported.
Caldwell spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Houston Texans, starting 19 games and playing in 39 total. The 6-foot-3, 315-pounder was a standout center at the University of Alabama before becoming a 2009 third-round pick for Houston.
Hadnot is a veteran of nine seasons who spent 2012 with the San Diego Chargers. He too has positional flexibility between guard and center, and has started 96 of the 130 games he has appeared in during his career. The 31-year-old was a 2004 sixth-round draft choice of the Dolphins.
The Patriots currently have 89 players under contract, one shy of the 90-man offseason limit.
