In a piece now posted to ESPN.com, ESPN the Magazine senior writer Seth Wickersham profiles the 2007 Patriots as part of a series on the most compelling NFL teams since the year 2000.
The piece begins with a look inside the Patriots' minicamp in May of that year and continues through its run to Super Bowl XLII with unique sound from several players on the team, including quarterback Tom Brady, cornerback Asante Samuel and linebacker Rosevelt Colvin.
It's a fascinating look inside a team that came within seconds of becoming the second undefeated team in the Super Bowl era, and one that advanced through the regular season with stunning offensive performances.
In the piece, some of the players ponder if a regular season loss would have actually served them better than going 16-0 before the playoffs.
