The Patriots released the following statement on defensive lineman Armond Armstead, who opened training camp on the non-football illness list:
"Armond Armstead had surgery to treat an infection. Armond is in good condition and is expected to make a full recovery. A timetable has not been set for his return to football.”
On Sunday, Bill Belichick was asked about Armstead and if his illness is related to the condition that led to him not being cleared to play in his final season at Southern Cal.
Belichick said Armstead is dealing with a different issue.
