FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Had a nice experience to close out the work week at Gillette Stadium, unexpectedly having a chance to meet 18-year-old Joey Mullaney of Leominster, Mass.

Joey was visiting the stadium as part of "Make-A-Wish", and he was joined by his sister Kaela and their parents. It was Joey's wish to come visit the Patriots.

He attended Saturday's practice, met coach Bill Belichick, quarterback Tom Brady and others, and then was making his way through the press box when we had an unexpected meeting.

"I've always loved the Pats, ever since I was little," Joey said, as he was interviewed next to the podium where Belichick holds his news conferences. "I finally got a 'Make-A-Wish' and the first thing I wanted to do was meet as many Pats players as I could, and move around Gillette and get to know the area."

Part of what made the day special for him was when defensive end Chandler Jones said he remembered him from a prior meeting. That surprised him.

"I was like 'don't you meet a lot of people?" It just showed me that these guys are humans too. They are just normal guys," Joey relayed, before explaining that he became a fan of the team because of his dad.

Joey described his day as "amazing" and here's hoping there are more ahead for him and his family.

It was a pleasure to meet such a courageous young man.
