PHILADELPHIA -- The running game was a big part of the Patriots' success in Friday's preseason-opening win over the Eagles.

Here is a breakdown of the snaps played by the team's backs:

First half
Shane Vereen -- 18 of 46
Stevan Ridley -- 15 of 46
Leon Washington -- 7 of 46
LeGarrette Blount -- 5 of 46
Brandon Bolden -- 2 of 46

Total snaps
Vereen -- 19 of 72
Ridley -- 15 of 72
Blount -- 13 of 72
Bolden -- 13 of 72
Washington -- 11 of 72
George Winn -- 2 of 72

QUICK-HIT THOUGHTS: While a rotation can always be tweaked in future preseason games, this seemed to unfold in a way that reflects the current depth chart. Ridley is the lead back and he got the bulk of the "big back" carries in the first half, while Vereen is the top passing back. As for the backups, the team turned to Blount before Bolden in this game, while Washington spelled Vereen at the end of the first half. This is a deep group.
