FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- No. 2 quarterback Ryan Mallett, who was knocked out of Friday's preseason opener with a head injury, joined his teammates at practice on Monday.
Mallett said after Friday's game that his head was fine. But he was kept out of the game as a precaution after being sidelined with 1:22 remaining in the second quarter, with coach Bill Belichick later saying he would have exited in the third quarter regardless.
The Patriots have three quarterbacks on their 90-man roster: Tom Brady, Mallett and Tim Tebow.
Brady played 16 snaps on Friday, with Mallett on for the next 25. Tebow finished up by playing the final 31 snaps.
