Patriots-Buccaneers connections

The Patriots and Buccaneers will begin joint practices today (11 a.m.), and though the teams haven't played a regular-season game against each other since a 2009 contest that was held in London, there's no shortage of familiarity between the two clubs.

Below is a list of both the players who have experience working with both organizations.

Buccaneers pass-rush specialist coach Bryan Cox was a member of the 2001 Patriots as a linebacker, while current defensive line coach Randy Melvin was the Patriots defensive line coach that season. Senior offensive assistant Jimmy Raye was the Patriots offensive coordinator back in 1990.

The two clubs also share strong ties to Rutgers, where Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano was prior to taking over his current post with the team (he coached Patriots assistant coach Steve Belichick during the 2011 college season).
