FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots have added another tight end to the mix, signing free agent Evan Landi on Tuesday morning, his agent David Canter announced via Twitter.
Landi was originally signed by the Buccaneers, who the Patriots will begin joint practices with this morning, as an undrafted free agent out of South Florida. He was waived by Tampa Bay in June.
The 6-foot-3, 236 pounder is considered a versatile player who was at-times split out as a receiver during his college career. He played in 46 games while at South Florida, starting 26. He finished with 72 career catches for 846 yards and three touchdowns.
The Patriots now have five healthy tight ends on the roster. They will also need to make a corresponding roster move before today's practice to get down to 90 players.
