The Patriots have waived tight end Evan Landi, a league source confirmed.
Landi, signed by the team on August 13, worked as a depth level tight end, providing insurance while the team dealt with injuries to both Rob Gronkowski and Daniel Fells, as well as the management of Jake Ballard, who continues to work his way back from a major knee injury suffered in February 2012.
Landi originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a rookie free agent following this year's draft.
The move, which was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times, brings the Patriots down to 76 players. They will need to make one more roster move before today's 4 p.m. ET deadline to get down to 75 players.
