Leon Washington visits Giants

September, 3, 2013
Veteran running back and kickoff returner Leon Washington visited the Giants today, according to a league source.

Washington was released by the Patriots on Sunday, and some wondered if he might return to the team. But his visit to the Giants indicates that perhaps a return to New England isn't currently in the cards.

The Patriots had signed Washington to a one-year, $1.2 million contract with a $360,000 signing bonus in March. He was projected as the team's top kickoff returner, but that job could now go to rookie receiver Josh Boyce or maybe even running back LeGarrette Blount.
Field Yates has previous experience interning with the New England Patriots on both their coaching and scouting staffs. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), he is a regular contributor to ESPN Boston's Patriots coverage and ESPN Insider.
