Pats have eight limited at practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots cornerbacks Alfonzo Dennard (knee), Aqib Talib (hip) and Kyle Arrington (groin) all practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday, the team announced.

Talib left Monday night’s game against Carolina due to tightness in his hip, while Arrington dealt with a groin issue that caused him to leave the game for stretches at a time. Dennard, meanwhile, sat out the game entirely after missing Saturday’s practice.

Veteran safety Steve Gregory returned to practice with a cast over his surgically repaired right thumb and worked on a limited basis, meaning four of the Patriots' top secondary players are dealing with injury issues as a matchup with the Broncos is nearing.

Linebacker Brandon Spikes, who was in and out of Monday night's game, was added to the injury report with a knee issue. He was limited on Wednesday.

Tight end Michael Hoomanawanui, who left Monday night’s game with a knee injury, was the lone absence from practice.

For Denver, former Patriot Wes Welker sat out practice due to a concussion, as did quarterback Peyton Manning, who has been limiting his practice reps of late due to an ankle issue.

Tight ends Julius Thomas (knee) and Joel Dreessen (knee) also sat out for the Broncos.
