The Patriots shuffled their practice squad on Monday, announcing the signing of offensive lineman R.J. Mattes and linebacker Taylor Reed, as well as the release of offensive lineman R.J. Dill.
Mattes (6-foot-6, 315 pounds), who attended NC State, was with the Patriots in training camp and has experience at guard and tackle.
Reed (5-11, 236), who initially signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in May, was with the Cowboys in training camp and spent one week on their practice squad in November.
The team still has one spot open on its practice squad, which could be by design after safety Kanorris Davis and cornerback Justin Green were promoted to the active roster on Saturday based on game-day needs. If one of those players is waived to make room for a different player on the 53-man roster, a spot would be waiting for them on the practice squad should they clear waivers.
The following is the Patriots' practice squad:
OT Jordan Devey
OL R.J. Mattes
RB Sam McGuffie
LB Taylor Reed
