FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Earlier Tuesday, an unidentified wide receiver wearing number 84 was spotted at practice.
It turns out the player is Reggie Dunn, an undrafted free agent out of Utah this year that has previously spent time with the Steelers, Packers, Browns and most recently the Dolphins.
While no formal announcement on Dunn's signing has been made, the expectation is that he will be added to the practice squad, with a promotion of linebacker Ja'Gared Davis to the active roster in a corresponding move.
Dunn has nearly identical measurables to Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, a primary area of focus for the Patriots defense this week.
They both stand at 5-foot-10, while Dunn is about five pounds lighter and ran a blazing 4.24 40 at Central Florida's pro day this spring, one-tenth of a second faster than Hilton's. He should provide the Patriots with a strong look during practice this week, with cornerback Aqib Talib confirming he did so Tuesday.
"He did a good job. He came in and ran fast, he ran through the defense, he ran under routes," Talib said. "He did what T.Y. Hilton does. He came out there, read what they had on the card, and ran fast and gave us a good look."
