On Thursday, the NFL officially announced its invite list to the upcoming combine, which will be held in its customary location of Indianapolis (on field drills to take place Feb. 22-25).

There are a handful of players who attended New England area colleges:

TE Rob Blanchflower (UMass)
DE Kasim Edebali (Boston College)
CB Kendall James (Maine)
OT Matt Patchan (Boston College)
OLB Kevin Pierre-Louis (Boston College)
DE Kaleb Ramsey (Boston College)
OLB Yawin Smallwood (Connecticut)
DT Shamar Stephen (Connecticut)
RB Andre Williams (Boston College)

Williams is the most prominent name on the list, as he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and led the country with 2,177 rushing yards last season. Scouts Inc. grades Williams as the eighth best draft eligible running back.

We'll be at the combine as part of the process in becoming more familiar with the prospects.
Field Yates has previous experience interning with the New England Patriots on both their coaching and scouting staffs. A graduate of Wesleyan University (CT), he is a regular contributor to ESPN Boston's Patriots coverage and ESPN Insider.
