Patriots' Julian Edelman is all heart

It's Valentine's Day and NFL Network's "NFL AM" show delivered a theme-based segment this morning on the players who play with the most heart.

Molly Qerim, Steve Wyche, Mark Kriegel and Jeff Garcia made their choices, and the first player mentioned was Patriots receiver Julian Edelman.

"Heart is the ability to never be discouraged," Kriegel said in the beginning to explain his choice of Edelman. "He was a quarterback at Kent State. They told him he couldn't be a quarterback. He played cornerback. He returned punts. He returned kicks. Then they told him, 'You broke your foot, we don't know what the future has for you' and he [ends up as] the No. 1 receiver for the Patriots. Whoever thought that?"

Kriegel added that it looks like Edelman came out of a "skateboard shop" as he doesn't take on the typical look of a No. 1 receiver.

That sparked some more discussion from the panel on Edelman, before other choices were made: Colts defensive end Robert Mathis and Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis.

All good choices, and my first thought was that Chargers running back Danny Woodhead would have been worthy as well.
