ESPN NFL analyst Tedy Bruschi obviously has a special place in his heart for the New England Patriots, and when the possibility of the team signing cornerback Darrelle Revis was broached on ESPN’s "NFL Live" program on Wednesday, Bruschi’s excitement level was raised.
“Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and Bill Belichick are most successful when they have a player like this, where they can eliminate part of the field or eliminate a receiver that’s outside, or also in the slot, and they can be creative in other parts of their coverage with their linebackers, defensive ends, safeties, other cornerbacks if they have this player. A Ty Law type of player -- this is who they need," Bruschi said on the program (video above).
“This deal has to be done. It has to be done. There is reason and there is motivation. The reason is that you just can’t do what you want to do if you don’t have a player with this type of skill -- the Aqib Talib, Ty Law type of skill. And there is motivation because just look at the other side. Look West, young man, and see what they’re doing in Denver and how they’re loading up.
“You’re looking at final four teams that are going to be playing on championship weekend -- Patriots, Broncos -- they’re going to see each other again.”
