BOSTON TO INDIANAPOLIS -- The focus of NFL reporters will be on the NFL Combine over the next five days, and ESPNBoston.com will be there.
The Combine has become a big-time media event. It's important for these prospects, but if there is one team that serves as a reminder to keep the Combine in perspective, perhaps the Patriots fit the bill better than most.
If putting together a list of top NFL players who weren't invited to the Combine, one would think the Patriots would fill a few spots. Such as ...
Wes Welker -- Was not invited in 2004, but no receiver has more catches since 2007.
Sebastian Vollmer -- A second-round draft choice in 2009, he was named an AP second-team All-Pro this season.
Danny Woodhead -- Running back from Division II Chadron State was snubbed in 2008, but emerged as a key contributor in 2010.
Julian Edelman -- Denied an invite in 2009, he is emerging as one of the NFL's better punt returns.
Kyle Arrington -- Overlooked coming out of Hofstra, but broke through as a 14-game starter in 2010.
