FOXBOROUGH -- The marketing appeal of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has grown immensely since his on-field explosion over the last two years. This was evidenced today at Dunkin' Donuts in Foxborough, where it was announced that Gronkowski signed a two-year contract as a spokesman for the company.

Gronkowski, wearing a red throwback Patriots jersey, worked the drive-thru and signed autographs for customers (some on their coffee cups). One customer told him that their puppy was named "Gronk", another sign of his growing popularity.

"We have a tradition with the Patriots; every Saturday morning a rookie has to get Dunkin' Donuts for the team," Gronkowski said, before focusing on his business relationship. "It's a great partnership with Dunkin' Donuts. I'm so excited to be part of it the next two years."

Gronkowski, whose favorite doughnut is chocolate glazed, didn't know much about Dunkin' Donuts from growing up in Western New York.

"Dunkin' Donuts are all over here, you go around the corner and there will be another one. I became a big fan of them when I came up here," he said. "I hit it two, three times a week, get breakfast here. I love my croissant sandwich with egg and cheese, with the hash browns. That's killer."

Gronkowski then showed he is a quick study with more than just the football playbook. He's a pretty good pitchman, too.

"America runs on Dunkin' Donuts," he said, repeating the company's catchy advertising campaign. "Everyone knows that."
