Stanback's sudden rise
By Mike Reiss
FOXBOROUGH, Mass., -- Every year, there are reminders of the importance of the practice squad. Players are promoted and then play an important role on game day.
One of this year's prime examples, receiver Isaiah Stanback, held court with reporters in the locker room Friday. Since his promotion Nov. 14, Stanback has played 65 of a possible 155 snaps over the last two weeks, totaling three catches for 22 yards and finding himself on the field in critical situations.
Stanback, who spent the first two years of his career with the Cowboys, had high praise for former teammate Terrell Owens.
"I love T.O. I know that obviously he gets a bad rap supposedly, but I was around him every day and I know the real T.O. He helped me out a lot, personally,” Stanback said.
Stanback also feels fortunate to be around another No. 81 -- Randy Moss.
“I’ve been pretty privileged in my career to have played with some future Hall of Famers," he said. "Obviously, I had Terrell [Owens] down in Dallas and Jason Witten -- I talk to him all the time, too. To now, obviously being here around those guys, it’s a great atmosphere. They’re both been great situations."
