Cleaning out the Patriots notebook

By Mike Reiss

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Cleaning out the Patriots notebook at the end of the week:

1. Quarterback Tom Brady has won his last 22 straight regular-season starts at home, and with a victory over the Ravens on Sunday, he will move one step closer to Brett Favre's record of 25 straight regular-season home triumphs (Green Bay, 1995-98). Brady was visited by owner Robert Kraft in the locker room on Friday.

2. The "Dirty Show" belt, which is awarded by defensive line coach Pepper Johnson, has made an appearance in the locker room. Johnson oversees the Patriots' scout teams and he gives the belt to the player he feels had the top performance on those scout teams. Practice squad safety Sergio Brown had the belt this week.

3. Rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez drew a crowd of reporters in the locker room Friday and when asked about the chemistry he's developing with Brady, he said it reminded him of his college career at Florida with Tim Tebow.

4. Receiver Wes Welker said Friday that he is not yet ready to shed his knee brace, which he feels slows him down. Welker hopes to play without the brace at some point. Welker was also asked his desire for a new contract and said it wasn't something he is currently concerned with; he is signed through 2011.

5. Bodog.com has the Patriots' odds of winning the Super Bowl at 12-to-1. The Jets (7-1), Ravens (7-1), Steelers (9-1), Colts (10-1) and Packers (10-1) were the only teams with better odds. Meanwhile, Bodog puts the over/under for Deion Branch catches on Sunday at 3, and the over/under for Branch receiving yards at 50.5.
