Plan would eliminate 'Gronk' moments

By Mike Reiss

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports today that the NFL Players Association, which is now acting as a trade association, is putting a plan in place that would prevent each top prospect from attending next month's NFL Draft.

"The NFLPA already has contacted 17 top prospects that ordinarily would have received an invitation to attend the draft and informed them not to go," Schefter writes.

If this takes place, moments like Rob Gronkowski's spontaneous celebration (watch it here) -- after the Patriots selected him 42nd overall last April -- would be eliminated. Gronkowski's family stomp-and-celebration was one of the highlights of the 2010 draft and even had Bill Belichick commenting afterwards.

"I think as we saw there, in New York, he’s kind of a fun loving guy who enjoys having a good time," Belichick said of Gronkowski on the day the Patriots drafted him. "He plays like that, too."
