BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Patriots announced that they have downgraded safety Patrick Chung (right thumb), defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth (back) and receiver Taylor Price (hamstring) to out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Chung underwent surgery on his right thumb this week. He returned to practice on Friday. On Thursday, the Boston Herald reported that Chung would be out.
Meanwhile, Haynesworth injured his back this week, forcing him to miss practice Thursday and Friday. The Patriots are suddenly very thin along the interior of the defensive line, with Vince Wilfork and Kyle Love atop the depth chart, and Landon Cohen -- re-signed this week -- the next man in. Shaun Ellis could also kick inside in a sub defense.
The interior defensive line has been hit hard by injuries, with Myron Pryor placed on injured reserve (shoulder) this week, Mike Wright remaining out with a concussion, and now Haynesworth.
With offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back), tight end Aaron Hernandez (knee) and Wright (concussion) already ruled out, the Patriots will have to deactivate one more player 90 minutes before Sunday's kickoff.
