The Patriots secondary is battling injuries.
Four defensive backs -- corners
(hip), and safety
(hand) -- are among nine players listed as questionable on the Patriots' final participation report of the week.
(knee), offensive tackle
(back), and defensive lineman
(concussion) are all out for New England. Defensive linemen
(knee) are also deemed questionable.
For the second straight week, the Patriots could be left thin by injuries on defense. Neither Dowling, Chung, or Haynesworth played against Buffalo, while Arrington (previously concussion) and Bodden (previously hand) emerged with new maladies.
The Patriots re-signed veteran defensive lineman
earlier this week, while depth corners like
will have to be ready for potential action. New England also removed punter
(illness), and linebacker
(thigh) from the report, indicating they are ready for action.
New England flies to Oakland Friday night and further downgrades could be made based on who makes the trip. Here's Friday's report:
For the Raiders, CB
(hamstring) and WR
(groin) are out; LB
(concussion), S Michael Mitchell (knee), RB
(ankle), and DE
(shoulder) are questionable; and S
(shoulder, groin), and CB
DeMarcus Van Dyke
(knee) are probable.
