RB Woodhead appears to injure left ankle

By Chris Forsberg

OAKLAND -- Patriots running back Danny Woodhead appeared to suffer a left ankle injury late in the first half. He did not return to the field to start the second half, but the team has not issued an injury announcement.

Woodhead hobbled to the sideline and was trying to walk off the injury before the intermission.

Woodhead had two carries for 13 yards in the first half. The Patriots still have BenJarvus Green-Ellis and rookie Stevan Ridley to lean on in the backfield (along with rookie Shane Vereen).

After a Ridley 33-yard touchdown run on the first series of the second half, Vereen took Woodhead's spot on the kickoff coverage team, the first action of his NFL career.
