Patriots release Ventrone ... again
By Chris Forsberg
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The revolving door continues for Ross Ventrone.
The Patriots waived the 25-year-old safety Thursday with no corresponding roster move. The team could save that active spot on the 53-man roster for someone like defensive lineman Ron Brace, who opened the season on the reserve/physically-unable-to-perform list.
Ventrone, meanwhile, probably lands back on the practice squad, where he spent much of his 2010 rookie season, and has bounced between all season long.
The release of Ventrone might also hint at better health for safety Josh Barrett, sidelined recently by a hamstring injury.
