Patrick Chung: 'Working to play'
By Mike Rodak & Mike Reiss
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- After missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a right foot injury, starting safety Patrick Chung took the field with his teammates for Friday's practice.
Beforehand, he spoke about his mindset heading into Sunday night's road game against the Jets.
"Injuries are a bad thing, being hurt is a different thing, but you have to work to get ready to play the game," he said.
Chung added that he doesn't feel pressure to return based on the team's thin depth at safety. He repeated a few times that he's approaching this week as if he'll play.
"Just working, working to play, working to get out there," he said. "You have to have the mentality of playing. ... Even if you're hurt, you have to be mentally there, period. You might be called upon."
Chung was asked about the team's low numbers at safety with Josh Barrett being placed on season-ending injured reserve.
"It's not really for me to talk about. You have to play with the guys you have. I'm simple, man. The guys that are out there have to play, period. ... We have good guys. Like I said, I'm getting ready for a game. It is what it is."
