S James Ihedigbo injures shoulder
By Chris Forsberg
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots safety James Ihedigbo suffered a shoulder injury on the first play of Kansas City's second offensive series early in the first quarter on Monday.
Ihedigbo, who spent the week on the injury report with a shoulder ailment and was listed as questionable for Monday's contest, received attention from trainers on the field, but soon got to his feet and jogged off. He then departed for the Patriots' locker room under his own power.
The Patriots were already thin at safety with Patrick Chung inactive due to a foot injury. Ihedigbo was replaced by Ross Ventrone.
The team classified his return as questionable.
[Update: Ihedigbo returned as part of the punt coverage team midway through the first quarter.]
