Edelman earns Special AFC honor
By Mike Reiss
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots receiver Julian Edelman has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the team announced.
Edelman's 72-yard punt return for a touchdown was a key play in the Patriots' 34-3 win over the Chiefs. The return came in the third quarter and gave the Patriots a 24-3 lead.
"He broke a couple of tackles and we kind of had them sealed off there," coach Bill Belichick said after the game. "It was a big play in the game. I think it really -- I don't want to say put it our of reach -- but it certainly put a big gap in the game."
Edelman also drew headlines after the game for his work as a defensive back in the dime package.
