Redskins OL Brown injured in warmups

By Mike Rodak

LANDOVER, Maryland -- Redskins starting right tackle Jammal Brown suffered a right groin injury in pre-game warmups prior to Sunday's Patriots-Redskins game in Washington. He is questionable to play.

Brown was participating in a warmup drill about 35 minutes prior to kickoff when he went to the ground in the end zone. Members of the team's training staff and head coach Mike Shanahan surrounded Brown, who got to his feet and slowly walked to the team's locker room.

The Redskins are already without suspended starting offensive tackle Trent Williams, and top interior offensive line reserve Erik Cook had been deactivated for the game prior to Brown's injury.

Tyler Polumbus is next on the depth chart at right tackle for the Redskins, and lined up at that position in subsequent warmup drills. Meanwhile, without Brown, the Redskins would have only six offensive lineman active for the game. Undrafted rookie tackle Willie Smith would be the only reserve option.

The Redskins' pass protection on the edges will be one area to watch, with Sean Locklear receiving the start in Williams' place and, now, Brown's injury.

Brown had been listed as probable on the Redskins' injury report with a hip injury. It's unclear whether this is an aggravation of that injury or a separate ailment.
