Chung goes wire-to-wire in return

By Mike Rodak

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- After missing the previous seven games with a foot injury, Patriots safety Patrick Chung not only made his return to the field on Sunday, but he played every defensive snap in his team's 49-21 win over the Bills.

"Feels good, man. Feels good to be back," Chung said after the game. "First play I was definitely nervous. But after that, it just went away."

Chung made his presence felt early, delivering a hard hit on Bills receiver Stevie Johnson on the opening drive of the game.

"[That] kind of got my body warmed up because I haven't hit anybody in a while," Chung said of the hit. "I'm glad to be out there and glad to be running around with my guys."

While Chung practiced the last several weeks, delaying his return to Sunday may have been a planned move by the team, making sure one of their defensive leaders is fresh for the playoffs.

So when exactly did Chung know to mark his calendar for a New Year's return?

"I can't tell you that," Chung joked. "But I was working hard to get on the field."
