Source: QB Hartline signed to future deal
By Mike Rodak
The Patriots on Thursday signed quarterback Mike Hartline to a future contract for the 2012 season, according to a league source.
Hartline, the brother of Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky last July, and spent the first month of the season on the Colts' practice squad.
While at Kentucky, Hartline was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, and was subsequently suspended for his team's bowl game against Pittsburgh last season.
The Patriots worked out Hartline last month. He will join the team when rosters expand to 80 players this offseason.
Hartline joins Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett as quarterbacks under contract for 2012. Brian Hoyer is scheduled to be a restricted free agent.
