CHANCE OF MAKING 53-MAN ROSTER:50%
WHY HE SHOULD MAKE IT: Cole was a special-teams player for the Jets over recent seasons, and could play the same role in New England. During OTAs, he was one of several gunners during punt drills. In defensive drills, Cole was part of the second-team defense at cornerback. He could be an ideal fifth cornerback on the roster, providing a spark on special teams while able to fill in on defense.
WHY HE SHOULD NOT MAKE IT:While Cole played a role on special teams for the Jets, he was not considered an important enough piece by New York to be tendered a contract as a restricted free agent this offseason. Unless Cole is a core special teams player in New England, the Patriots may be better off by instead keeping seventh-round draft pick Alfonzo Dennard, who could be a target if placed on waivers.
