Schefter: Pats lock up Hernandez
By Field Yates
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Patriots and third-year tight end Aaron Hernandez have agreed to a long-term contract extension, citing an NFL source.
The terms of the deal are not yet known, but it means that the Patriots will have their dynamic tight end duo in tact for the foreseeable future, with both Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski signed to new deals.
Hernandez, 22, was a fourth-round pick in 2010, and had two years remaining on his rookie contract. He finished 2011 with 79 catches for 910 yards and seven touchdowns.
