RB Bolden exemption lifted

By Field Yates

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots have activated running back Brandon Bolden to the 53-man roster, the team confirmed. Bolden, an undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss, recently completed a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances.

The team was granted an eight-day roster exemption for Bolden which was set to expire on Tuesday, but he is now available to play in tonight's Week 14 matchup with the Texans.

Whether he will be active for tonight's game is unclear, however, as he was nursing a knee injury suffered in Week 6 prior to his suspension. In six games this season, Bolden has 43 carries for 234 yards and two touchdowns, including a 16-carry, 137-yard outing against the Bills in Week 4.

On Saturday, he indicated to reporters that he would not speak with the media for the first time since his suspension until sometime after tonight's game.

The Patriots now have four running backs on the roster, with Bolden joining the trio of Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, and Danny Woodhead.
