Ravens' Ngata wanted to face Pats
By Field Yates
Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata echoed the sentiments of wide receiver Torrey Smith, who said on Monday that he's glad to have a rematch against the Patriots, who defeated Baltimore in the AFC Championship Game a season ago.
“I think we personally kind of wanted to play the Patriots again," Ngata said on Monday. "If we were to go to the Super Bowl, it would be great to go through Foxborough and win there. So, it’s another matchup that I think that we’re excited about, and hopefully, we can get it done this time.”
Ngata still recalls the feeling he had following the narrow defeat in last year's game, and it served as motivation this season.
“The feeling that we had in that locker room, I think we all wanted to get back to the AFC Championship," he said. "And then to actually have it be back in Foxborough, it’s a good – I don’t know – story.”
But while Ngata is happy to have the chance to try and upend the Patriots and advance to Super Bowl XLVII, he said he wasn't rooting for either team on Sunday while watching the Patriots and Texans game.
“I wasn’t rooting for anybody," Ngata noted. "I was kind of just watching both offenses, the Texans and the Patriots. Once the Patriots started getting away, then I started just watching their offense more. So, I wasn’t rooting for anyone.”
