Sources: Gronk had surgery for infection
By Field Yates
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski underwent surgery last week for an infection on the forearm that he re-broke during the divisional round of the playoffs against the Houston Texans, league sources told ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter and ESPNBoston.com.
Sources indicated that the infection was caught early and that Gronkowski will be ready for training camp. It was the third procedure Gronkowski has had on his forearm since first breaking it against the Colts on Nov. 18.
Gronkowski, who signed a long-term contract extension last offseason, finished 2012 with 55 catches for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns during 11 regular-season games.
